Live Scan Fingerprinting
Certified and approved by the Department of Justice (DOJ) to provide Live Scan Fingerprinting services. Mobile Live scan and group services available.

What Is Live Scan Fingerprinting?

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has developed an automated background check process that requires digital fingerprinting "Live Scan". Digital fingerprints enables the electronic transfer of fingerprints images, as well as personal descriptive information directly to a central computer base at the DOJ within 24 hours.

What To Bring With You
Walk-ins are welcome however if you desire an appointment to have your fingerprints rolled, please have your Live Scan form (BCAI 8016) completed prior to your arrival along with your photo I.D. (Examples Department of Motor Vehicle I.D. Card, Drivers License, Passport.) 
Please be sure to print three copies of the form as it must be prepared in triplicate. Please call for more information.

Fees
A fingerprint-rolling fee will be collected when applicant get his or her fingerprints taken. There is also a criminal history processing fee collected by the California Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation for the background checks. If you have a six digit billing number located next to "Misc. No. BIL or Agency Billing Number" section on your Live Scan form you do not have to pay the government fee(s) at the Live Scan site. We accept cash, credit cards, checks, money order and billing accounts.

  • Rolling Fee: $20-25 (always required to pay)
  • Department of Justice Fee (DOJ): *$0-$32 
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI): *$0-$19
  • California Social Service (Daycare, Kindercare, Elderly care, Adoption etc.): *$0-$27
  • Firearm Fee: *$0-$20

Checking on Status of Fingerprint Submission:

  • Please allow a minimum of 5 days before making a status inquiry.
  • First check with the agency that requested the background review. The DOJ sends results directly to them.
  • Call the 24-hour DOJ Automated Telephone Service: (916)-227-4557.
    You will need the following information: (1) your date of birth; and (2) the 10-digit Automated Transaction Identifier (ATI) number that appears at the bottom of the Live Scan Request Form. The ATI number always appears in the following sequence: 1 LETTER; 3 NUMBERS; 3 LETTERS and 3 NUMBERS. listed on your Live Scan Request Form.
